# Origin of "Taurean"
The story I get from my mom has been that she read through books at the library looking for ideas on what to name me. She landed on **_Tau_** which meant "Lion" and **_Ean_** which meant "son" as her and my dad are Leos. She didn't know what languages they were specifically anymore so this is my attempt at finding the answer.
In the Sotho-Tswana family of languages (a group of [closely related Bantu languages](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sotho%E2%80%93Tswana_languages)), **Tau** does mean **Lion**. The family of languages are also sometimes referred to as southern Sesotho or Sesotho.
**Ean** is a little more complicated as it doesn't seem to be a an actual word, but instead a [suffix added to the end of Armenian names](https://armeniapedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Last_Names).
